Akureyri – the capital of the north – is just 35 km far from our place and offers you a lot of shops and restaurants – like our famous roof top restaurant Strikið with a view over the Eyjafjörður.

Husavik – the whale watching capital – is only about 45 km away from us and also offers some nice restaurants in the picturesque harbor and the geothermal Spa overlooking this wonderful bay.

The Diamond Circle: this approximately 250 km long circuit connects one of the most impressive natural sights of Iceland like:

• The canyon of Ásbyrgi – a horseshoe shaped depression.
• Dettifoss – the most powerful waterfall in Europe, with its precursor Sellfoss.
• Hljóðaklettar – a distinctive cluster of basalt column rock formations with the famous lava church.

Myvatn area including:

• Krafla Viti – the crater volcano with a lake inside.
• Namaskard – a geothermal region with boiling sulfuric mud springs and steam vents.
• Jarðböðin – the blue lagoon of the north; a natural baths with milky blue waters and a breathtaking view on lake Myvatn.
• Hverfjall – an impressive black crater volcano from whichs slopes you can admire the whole region.
• Grjótagjá – a small lava cave, famous for featuring a beautiful geothermal hot spring in its depths.
• Dimmuborgir – or the Black Fortress; a dramatic expanse of black lava.
• Vindbelgjarfjall – this 529-meter-high mountain has nearby parking and a hiking trail leading to its top with a scenic lake view.

And last but not least our beautiful Goðafoss… it is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Iceland. The water of the river Skjálfandafljót falls from a height of 12 meters over a width of 30 meters. The story tell, that due to the rising pressure of Christianity Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði, the country’s law speaker, decided to converse and as a proof threw all his idols of the old Norse God religion into the waterfall. Therefor this impressive waterfall carries its name: the waterfall of the Gods – Goðafoss.
